Danny Rose confused after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s reaction to Mohamed Salah

[ad_1]

Liverpool continued their encouraging start to the season with a one-sided game at Watford.

Roberto Firmino scored a hat-trick while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah also scored to lead the Reds to a 5-0 win in the Premier League on Saturday.

The result means that Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten in 20 matches in all competitions and remain one point behind leaders Chelsea in the fixtures.

But there were plenty of things that went unnoticed or under the radar in the 90 minutes of Vicarage Road.

Salah Fork Rose

Danny Rose sure got up on Sunday morning and be sure to double-check the date.

After all, the Watford defender would be forgiven for not knowing the day Salah left his old right-winger, and some of his early tough moments served as a prelude to a full 90 minutes of extreme misery against the Liverpool player.

Within half an hour, Salah twisted Rose one way and another so that the full-back did not see Sadio Mane approaching him and stumbled directly, which led to a prolonged treatment of a painful body and bruised pride.

It was hard not to feel some sympathy for the ex-England player. A little bit, anyway.

Trent can’t believe it

Diogo Jota was out of his seat in the bunker. Ibrahima Konate could not understand things. It seemed that Virgil van Dijk almost burst into unbelievable laughter at what had happened.

But if there was one reaction that said it all about Salah’s final miraculous blow, it was that of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back was the closest player to the Egyptian national team as he started his reckless career and had a perfect vision for his next unerring finish.

As he raced to congratulate Salah, Alexander-Arnold put his hands on his face in disbelief. You and us all, Trent.

Mane echoes Firmino

If Salah gets the praise, it’s Firmino who comes home with the match ball after a hat-trick that any predator number nine would be proud of.

It gave the Brazilian the opportunity to browse his inventory of festivities, including the detailed number after the opening that was transcribed in trademark fashion by the always-willing Mane.

So it seemed only fair when Van Dijk slipped into Firmino’s playbook and hit a karate kick to celebrate the striker completing his hat-trick.

Despite this, no one does it quite like Bobby.

Klopp respects Ranieri

Watford supporters are so used to changing managers these days that there was only a flurry of applause before the game when new manager Claudio Ranieri was introduced.

At least the Italian Jurgen Klopp received a standing ovation on the touchline.

And there was another, less visible embrace during the warm-up as young Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Petaluga welcomed 20-year-old Watford forward Joao Pedro.

The fledgling duo were both in Fluminense in their native Brazil.
