Students at Nicasio School in West Marine honed their skills for ducking, covering and holding on during Thursday’s earthquake preparedness exercise.

The exercise was held in conjunction with Great California ShakeOut and International ShakeOut Day, which falls on the third Thursday of October.

More than 7.5 million people in California have registered to take part in the event, according to state organizers. This included more than 25,000 people in Marin, nearly 22,000 of whom were in school districts.
