Previous I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate shared the news on Instagram, explaining that she will have surgery tomorrow (October 25) and that the outlook is positive so far.

“For a while now I’ve been struggling with digestion. Thanks to a conversation I had with my dad a few years ago, I went to my GP for a check-up. I’ll be honest, I was embarrassed but I also knew it could be something serious.

“So I went in anticipation. I didn’t think of anything at first and assumed there might be a food allergy. After a few phone calls I was sent for some tests and checkups. Then I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. That was at the beginning of the month.”

BBC Radio 1 DJ, who rose to prominence after appearing on the third series of Big Brother, added that she was sharing her story to encourage anyone with similar concerns to see a doctor.

“Please be sure to get checked out if you have any concerns. The sooner you can see your doctor or talk to someone, the sooner you can get help. If I don’t, I may not be so lucky. As I am” I learned during The past few weeks, that there is no “normal” disease with cancer. Unfortunately, it can affect anyone, at any age, and at any time. It does not distinguish. Early detection could save your life. “

She praised the “amazing NHS” and revealed she will have surgery to remove the tumor, after which she will find out if she needs further treatment.

“The outlook is positive so far and I feel very fortunate to be able to heal,” she said. “It’s just the beginning of my journey but I’m going to give it my all.”

In her Instagram post, she thanked her family and Radio 1 for their support, and also added a poster showing signs of bowel cancer for those who might need a push to get out, as well as an extended explanation.
