11th place: Bangladesh 63-4 (Mahmoudullah 13; Asif 0) Livingston’s fractured leg eliminated dangerous Mushfikor in his first round. He doesn’t back down from his pleas either! There is no lack of confidence in persuading Morgan to review.
“Tania, I’m sorry (not sorry) for being so pedantic.”
Come on then, Sam from Sheffield.
“But Irish (sixth) whiskey is actually Irish ‘whisky’. Only Scottish distilled whiskey comes without the letter ‘e’.”
apologies. As I think I’ve confessed here before, I’m a complete pagan, I only take a whisk(e)y with ginger or coffee and cream.

The wicket! LBW Mishfigur Livingston 29 (Bangladesh 63-4)
If he had been placed in a straight line, he would have hit all three, but instead hit a pity board as he gambled on a reverse sweep. Big hit for Bangladesh
11.51 AM GMT 11:51
10th place: Bangladesh 60-3 (Mahmoudullah 12; Mashafiqor 27) It’s time for Mills, who was very impressive on his return to the team against the West Indies. But Bangladesh feels that they are behind that rate and beat it here and there. Shot on the day Msfekker spotted a short, takes off on his toes, hits his racket at an angle and mounts the ball on Butler and down to the rope. Eleven from above – remember this land was low-scoring. They stopped for drinks in the middle of the road.
11.46 AM BST11:46
9th place: Bangladesh 49-3 (Mahmoudullah 8; Mushfiq 20) Great job by Mahmudullah who sent Rashid long for four with a flash.
The camera pans to the remainder of the England squad as Mark Wood, still unfit for selection, shares a joke with David Wylie. England hope to be fit in their next match against Australia on Saturday.
11.41 AM GMT 11:41
8th place: Bangladesh 42-3 (Mohammedullah 2; Mushfiqur 19) I think Mushfiqur has an eye for Chris Jordan. He whistles twice from his first ball, then beats him by a third man for four. Wide couple, goodbye foot, Jordan is a little skewed here, and suddenly it’s over for 12.
Even his favorite ‘English’ anthem, ‘Have Those Feet in Antiquity,’ says John Starbuck, ‘includes a religion which, you say, is beginning to lose popularity.’ “I loved Billy Connolly’s idea of The Archers’ main tune instead, no words, just dum-de-diddly dum-de-dum etc. It’s not great, totally, but anyone can join in.”
11.35am BST11:35
7th place: Bangladesh 30-3 (Muhammadullah 1; Mashfigur 11) What did you say? Off Rashid’s third ball, Mills drops Mashfiqor (who replaces Moin) – but it’s a pretty tough chance, as he blasts off into space at one point but just can’t stand it.
11.33am BST11:33
6th place: Bangladesh 27-3 (Mahmadullah 0; Mushfiqur 9) England were at the top at the end of a power game – smart bowling with their perfect play like Irish whiskey on a long winter evening. This competition has been exceptional so far (as was Pakistan against India).
11.28 AM GMT 11:28
The wicket! Shakib and Jarshid B-Wax 4 (Bangladesh 3-26)
Shakib tries to pull out Woakes but he hits him too quickly, and he can only outrun. Rashid lunges back with a short leg, jumps and fists with both hands, a post-performance flip for added impact. Fantastic fishing!

Fifth: Bangladesh 24-2 (Shakib 2; Mishfigure 8) Three bounces and over the rope, Mishfigur swings the last Moen ball for four in time. Moen, bushy and shaved, frustrated, touches his hand to deliver the ball he may have thrown.
11.22am BST11:22
Fourth place: Bangladesh 18-2 (Shakib 1; Mushfigur 3) gives Morgan Woakes another bite of the cherry. It’s not as eventful as a second given by Moin, but Mishfiker is hit in the lower hand by a beauty, a ball that shoots off the field like a bramble that is suddenly fired.
Speaking of rich tea (lower quality but safer dipping biscuits available), Brian Withington wrote, “Our three retired/unsuccessful guide dogs love the crescent of said biscuit in the morning. At the first hint of my cup of tea arriving, they each take a waiting stop , and waiting for their crescent moon to be presented to much ceremonies. They were duly devoured with gratitude (like so many Bangladeshi editorials for Mo).”
11.17 AM GMT 11:17
Third place: Bangladesh 15-2 (Shakib Safar; Mushfiq 1) The rise and rise of Moin Ali continues! A great comeback after entering Bangladesh in its first steps.

The wicket! Naim c Woakes b Moeen 5 (Bangladesh 14-2)
She dances beautifully on the track, but it’s a reckless shot that goes straight to Woakes halfway. Certain in the trilogy!
11.14 am GMT 11:14
The wicket! Liton c Livingstone b Moeen 9 (Bangladesh 14-1)
The straight guy fools the Liton who has a slug and upper edges!
11.12 am GMT 11:12
Second place: Bangladesh 13-0 (Naeem 4; Leighton 9) Woakes immediately became stingier, just three after his first. Naim rides his luck and lands close to David Malan’s fist in the middle of the wicket.
“Good morning, Tania.” Morning Brian Withington.
“Great performance of the Bangladeshi national anthem. Reminds me a bit of Inside You, Without You from Sergeant Pepper album. To say the least about our pompous tune the better. Game started.”
The problem with our tone, aside from the melody, is that its appeal to both king and god is not a universal winner these days.
11.06 am GMT 11:06
1st place: Bangladesh 10-0 (Naim 1; Leighton 9) There is a bit of a spin right away for Moeen, and both Liton and Naim capture singles in the rookie before Liton runs down the field and serves up six straight. The next ball is patted wide and punched through the lids for 4. Delicious feet. The pitch is really dry ping pong table look and rich tea color.

It looks like Moein Ali will take the new ball, but the two teams and the support team take the knee first.

It’s time for songs. Bangladesh sings merrily somewhat to epic. England, which suddenly looks gigantic, mostly sings from the sides of their mouths.

James Walsh, who wrote this excellent spin on Bangladesh…
…voices via email.
“Morning Tania!” I was in Cardiff for the Bangladesh/England match at the 2019 World Cup – remember that? The Bangladesh fans were great, and the whole day had a magical and surreal atmosphere, a match in this massive global tournament held in a city that you hardly knew was happening, due to it being hidden from the ECB far away on Sky. It was a bit cold in the stands, and I guess it wouldn’t be a problem today…”
Yes, in the mid-30s and then up…

Boundaries are big in Abu Dhabi, especially on one side of the land – which should work for the spinners.
Here are some important points for you, about the possibility that Moein Ali will take the new ball again:

The match against WI was the first time Muin Ali had thrown 4 of the first 7 times in the T20 Tour. England might try something similar today, as Mohamed Naim and Layton Das both have a good turn-around record, scoring 100 and 126 respectively. #T20WorldCup #ENGvBAN

Bangladesh wins the lottery and will hit!
Slow layer, big floor, very hot, lots of spinners. “It seems like a very good small portion to be batted upon,” says Mahmoud Allah.
Eoin Morgan says he’s not upset, new ground, needing to adapt.

Preamble
good morning! It’s Wednesday, so England face Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi. Incredibly, this is the first IT20 between the two sides, in a form where earning money means matches are ten penny. The Bangladesh Board of Directors is not rich enough, you say? Do not be silly!
England, who beat the West Indies, are big favorites against Bangladesh, who lost to Scotland in qualifying, then lost to Sri Lanka in their first match in the Super 12.
As an afternoon game, either side would have no problems with the dew that upset India on the field against Pakistan going live.
My colleague Simon Burnton is already on the ground and reports that things are a bit lighter.

Both teams would be knee-deep, luckily avoiding yesterday’s controversy when Quinton de Kock refused and missed South Africa’s game against the West Indies. I’m sure there is a lot to come out with.
Play starts at 11am GMT.
