Londoners have been warned to be on the alert for the potential threat of an extremist attack before Christmas, with Cressida Dick describing the killing of Sir David Amis as a “terrifying reminder” of the continuing terrorist threat.

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner wrote in the Standard Evening newspaper that it was important for the public to show “courage and confidence” to report suspicious behavior and said that calling the police “will not ruin lives, but may only save them.”

The warning came with the number of counter-terrorism investigations across the UK at a record low, with 800 investigations currently active, as well as 31 thwarted plots since 2017.

A large part of the alleged plots are connected with London.

Ms Dick wrote: “We recently saw in Essex another terrorist attack with the murder of MP Sir David Amis, and with it a terrifying reminder that the threat of terrorism is very real.”

“It is therefore extremely important that Londoners continue to be vigilant and vigilant. This is especially true as we continue to enjoy regaining our freedom in the lead-up to Christmas.”

“This is especially true as we continue to enjoy reclaiming our freedom in the lead up to Christmas. If you see or hear anything suspicious, I urge you to let us know.”

On Friday, Ms Dick and City of London Police Commissioner Ian Dyson attended a ceremony in the capital to honor emergency workers and members of the public for their bravery in responding to the Fishmonger’s Hall attack on November 29, 2019. Two people, Saskia Jones and Jack Merritt, were stabbed to death by released terror convict Usman Khan. During the attack on London Bridge.

Sir David, who was stabbed multiple times outside his surgery circuit at Belvers Methodist Church in Les-on-Sea, Essex earlier this month, was killed by the fight against terrorism and Islamic extremism. Ali Harbi Alo, 25, from London, is accused of killing the MP.
