Full Carabao Cup quarter-final draw as Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea discover fate

Chelsea will face Brentford in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, while Liverpool will face Leicester City as Jurgen Klopp looks to achieve his first success in the domestic cup.

The Carabao Cup will have a new name this year

Arsenal will face Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals while Chelsea head to Brentford in the west London derby.

Liverpool will host Leicester City at Anfield and Tottenham will host West Ham in North London

Manchester City’s four-year run in the Carabao Cup ended after they were beaten on penalties by West Ham.

Matches will take place the week of December 20th.

The Black Cats are the only soccer team left in the competition and will need to beat Mikel Arteta’s team to reach the round of four.

Sunderland chairman Johnson told me earlier this week: “I hope Arsenal away or Tottenham away, or someone like that.

“Then we’ll wait for the really big guns when they’re two feet away.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea recently beat Brentford as they held on to bid farewell to the Bees with Edward Mendy who needs several big saves.

Spurs were defeated in last year’s final by City but finally managed to end their long drought.

Pressure is still building on Nuno Espirito Santo, but a silver offering would be a huge boost.

They face the Hammers who recently outstripped them at the London Stadium and continue to go from strength to strength.

Liverpool’s match against Leicester is perhaps the highest quality match and will see Brendan Rodgers return to Merseyside once again.

The Northern Irish have yet to win at Anfield since being sacked in 2015.

Leicester racked up a victory in the FA Cup last season, beating Chelsea in the final, and their coach insists they are aiming for a similar success.

“We want to compete in every competition. It’s obviously difficult when we’re in a lot.”

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has not tasted success in any domestic cup since taking over from Rodgers.

He led Liverpool to the final of this competition in 2016, but this is still his best effort to date.

The final eight clashes will come during December’s hectic schedule, adding to the workload of the participating teams.

No team outside the top six has won the competition since Swansea’s success in 2013.
