Everything changed at Tottenham with Nuno Espirito Santo sacked from his managerial position after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United in north London.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford scored and ultimately sealed Espirito Santo’s fate, with Tottenham confirming their decision on Monday morning.

“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff want to succeed and I am sorry that we had to make this decision,” Director of Football Fabio Paratici wrote in his statement on the club’s official website following the news.

“Nono is a gentleman and will always be welcomed here. We would like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”

The search for his successor seems to be much faster than the previous search as well, and Antonio Conte seems very likely to step into the bunker.

football.london understands that Paracchi and Daniel Levy are in advanced talks to finally get him after a failed summer bid and there is growing confidence that the deal can be sealed as early as Monday evening, if not Tuesday.

Conte, of course, enjoyed plenty of success with Chelsea during his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League title in 2016-2017 and the FA Cup in 2017-18.

However, the Italian is known for his fiery and strong-willed character, and many Chelsea fans expected his relationship with the new Tottenham hierarchy to end in disaster.

Here’s how blues followers reacted to the news…

TeaHelm said: “Tottenham is a club where your reputation dies. It’s inevitable. Run away from it, afraid of it, fate will come as it is.”

AmirLakah said, “I am curious to watch the bones break with Daniel Levy when the going gets tough.”

“I would be shocked if it lasted longer than his 18-month contract,” YeahCaz said.
