Alexa’s October updates let your music follow you around the house

[ad_1]

Alexa’s October update introduces a number of useful new commands that let you start listening to audio in one room and continue listening on your Echo device in another. There are a few different commands for this command, and the commands you use will depend on your situation.

The first command lets you transmit audio between groups, also known as smart speakers that you’ve set to specific locations throughout your home. Simply say, “Alexa, move my music to [desired group]And you can move your podcast, radio show, or music to the room you plan to spend time in.

You can also continue to listen to the audio when you’re out of the house – keep in mind that you’ll need a pair of Echo Buds for this to work. Once you connect the Echo Buds to your phone, say, “Alexa move my music here,” and the audio on the earbuds will continue to play when you walk out the door.

There is another way to have your voice follow you around your house, but you will have to pause the music to do that. Just say “Alexa, pause” to the Echo that’s playing audio, then say “Alexa, resume music here” for the Echo you want to use. You can use the same commands when you want to resume your music in your car as well.

This is a huge improvement, considering that users have been asking Amazon to add a feature that allows audio to follow them around the house for years. Amazon seems to be taking feedback into account, as these commands should finally provide a way to have smooth audio playback throughout your home.
