A light earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale was felt in the Laconia region at 11:15 am, and according to the Institute of Geodynamics at the Athens National Observatory, the epicenter was eight kilometers southeast of the city of Neapolis at a focal depth. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center said the quake measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter near the communities of Agios Nikolaos and Vilanidia.
Based on the initial seismic data, the earthquake should not have caused any significant damage, but it was probably felt by many people due to a slight shaking in the epicenter area. From the epicenter, Jefaira (population 1,300) is 25 km away, Sikia (population 1,000) is 36 km, and Asopos (population 1,300) is 37 km away.
