Britney Spears wore a #FreeBritney shirt before a court hearing that could end her will.

The singer appears in court later today (November 12), where a judge will decide whether to end Spears’ 13-year guardianship, after her father, Jamie Spears, requested her “immediate termination.”

In a video shared by her fiancé Sam Asgari on Instagram, Britney is seen dancing in a white T-shirt with the words “#FreeBritney” written on it.

Below the top it says, “It’s a human rights movement.”

It was not clear if Ms Spears, 39, would participate in the hearing. Fans who have demanded her release from guardianship will be outside the courtroom in droves.

Judge Brenda Penny found no wrongdoing against James Spears, saying only that the “toxic environment” made the move necessary. “The current situation is intolerable,” the judge added.

Devoted fans of the musician were at the center of the campaign to end Britney Spears’ tutelage.

The #FreeBritney movement on social media was started around 2019 by a small group of fans who had long suspected issues with Spears’ tutelage.

The group organized raucous demonstrations outside court hearings in the case, and the group was also highlighted in the popular documentary Framing Britney Spears in February, which explored many of the concerns surrounding the province.

Back in October, Spears took to Twitter to praise the movement after her latest hearing in Los Angeles where a judge suspended her father’s control of her business affairs.

“I have no words because of you guys and your continued ability to free me from tutelage. My life is now in this direction! I cried last night for two hours because my fans are the best and I know it,” she wrote on Twitter.

She added, “I feel your heart and you feel my heart…I know it’s real.”

You can watch a video below of Spears fans celebrating outside the court when it was reported that her father had been suspended as her governor in September.

Britney Spears’ guardianship may end today

The controversial guardianship that has dominated Britney Spears’ life for the past 13 years could end later today.

Spears’ fate is in the hands of Judge Brenda Penny in Los Angeles Superior Court. Judge Penny will decide later today whether the guardianship, which has been in place since 2008, will finally end.

“It’s time to free Ms. Spears,” the singer’s attorney, Matthew Rosengart, wrote in a lawsuit last month, saying Spears wanted to end guardianship immediately.

In a complete turn of events, Spears’ father, James B. Spears – aka Jimmy – said he now also wants to end his role as guardian.

Last month, his attorneys said, “It was said in no uncertain terms, Jimmy believes the Conservatorium should end immediately.”

The case has been moving fast since June, when Britney alleged the agreement was abusive at an emotional hearing. Spears, for the first time since 2008, was allowed to choose her own attorney who has moved swiftly and aggressively since then to try to end Jamie’s control over his daughter’s life and business affairs for years.

Shortly after Britney’s new attorney was appointed, Jamie was suspended as governor of the Spears estate on September 29.

Court-appointed professional Judy Montgomery is now acting as a trustee for Britney’s person, and her attorney, Matthew Rosengart, said in court documents that Montgomery also agrees to terminate guardianship as long as it can be done safely and smoothly.

With little opposition from anyone involved ahead of today’s hearing, the legal agreement is expected to be dissolved, finally putting an end to the conservation that has dominated Britney’s life since 2008.
