Scotland take on South Africa at Murrayfield hoping for another huge scalp a week after their impressive win over Australia. This time though they will need to raise another level when they face the world champions, the Springboks who have not lost to the Scots since 2010, winning their last six encounters.

Gregor Townsend made four changes to the team that started with the win over Australia, with Rufus McClain pinning the wing and Matt Scott giving his first center start since 2017, while Stuart McKinally and Nick Heining entered the group. Springboks coach Jack Nyenber has made three changes to the team that have outlasted Wales, including linebacker Willy Le Roux to replace the injured Damien Willemsey.

Townsend knows it’s going to be a tough showdown, but he thinks the house advantage can be key again. “We know what to expect from the Springboks in the way they play and the physique they will deliver across the team. So we have chosen a team that we believe can meet this challenge and have given us a platform to force our game on the opponent. It has to be a full competition and will require intensity and focus across our 23-player squad for the duration of the game. A full 80 minutes.

Scotland showed some encouraging glimpses but they will be frustrated at not being able to make the most of their chances, as their streak faltered in the second half.
