Metagross Pokemon GO Metagross
Metagross is arguably the best type of steel in the game at the moment, and even if Zacian (Crowned) or Solgaleo takes the crown that rules Metagross with an iron fist, this giant spider-metal will always remain a viable Pokémon due to its exceptional stats, move set, and massive evolution.
But this pseudo-legendary moon is so much more than that. They are among the best monsters to use in the Master League and are notorious as they easily fit into many teams. With the Master League getting more dynamic with each passing season, Metagross has been a constant mainstay with its solid design and fighting prowess.
This article will analyze Metagross’ standing in the ML Classic and ML Open leagues and show how good (or bad) they are against different matches. Let’s go!
Writing, strengths and weaknesses
Metagross is a Hard / Psychic type Pokémon and therefore weak to the Dark, Fire, Ghost and Ground types.
Being of the solid type, it is sure to be blessed with a large number of resistors and that is exactly what it is!
0.391 times the damage dealt by 0.625 times the damage taken from Poison Dragon Fairy Psychic Flying Grass Ice Normal Rock Steel
Phew! 10 amazing resistances!
It’s quite clear that Metagross’ resistance and crimes make her a tailor-made partner for Dragon species. Not only does it resist the Dragon, Fairy, Ice and Rock types that dragons like Garchomp, Palkia or Dragonite are usually weak with, it also deals super damage = effective to the Fairies, Ice and Rock types.
Metagross may be one of the only Legendary non-pseudo-dragons at the moment, but he certainly complements them both very well with exceptional team collaboration!
statistics
Metagross has the following stats in Pokémon Go:
Metagross SteelPsychic Max CP at level 40 3791 | Max CP at Level 50 4286 ATK 254 DEF 228 HP 190 Weak to Strong Against Dark Fire Ghost Land Fairy Ice Rock Fighting Poison
Being a pseudo-legendary monster, Metagross has great stats! What makes it really cool is the fact that while steel types are generally known for their defensive prowess, Metagross has their ATK stats to make a huge impact.
But this spider is known for having a very impressive mobile tool. Let’s check it out!
Moveset تحليل Analysis
Metagross learns the following moves in Pokémon Go:
Fast Charged Moves Bullet Moves Steel Punch Zen Headbutt Psychic Flash Cannon Steel Meteor Steel Mash* Psychic Earthquake Ground
* Denotes a legacy movement
Fast movement analysis Fast moving damage per turn [DPT]
Energy at every turn [EPT]
Cooldown Bullet Punch 3.00 3.50 1.00 sec Zen Headbutt 2.66 2.00 1.50 sec
While both quick moves gain STAB, Zen Headbutt is a really bad thing in PvP.
Bullet punch, on the other hand, has a decent [DPT/EPT] a group of [3.00/3.50] It is the unanimous way to go.
Charged Movement Analysis Charged Movement Damage Energy Required Flash Cannon 110 70 Meteor Mash 100 50 Earthquake 120 65 Psychic 90 55
Meteor Mash’s exclusive action, Metagross’ Community Day is not only a strict upgrade on Flash Cannon but also one of the best charged moves in the game. This step alone is responsible for making Metagross an incredible specialist and also the first steel type.
Why earthquake > psychic?
Earthquake and psychogenic are both viable secondary charged movements. While Psychic has STAB which is also a step cheaper compared to Earthquake, the latter is better at the end of the day.
Sure Psychic helps Metagross have an advantage in some matches, but Earthquake has many positive matches, including Steel types. As is crystal clear, Earthquake is the only Metagross position in a mirror match where Pokémon resist both Steel and Psychic-type moves. The ability to unlock Steel Pokémon is a major asset in any league. As such, Earthquake is the way to go when it comes to giving your Meteor Mash Metagross a charged secondary action.
What about Metagross without a Meteor Mash?
Without Meteor Mash, Metagross can work with Earthquake and Psychic but it’s very frustrating!
Metagross is one of those non-legendary who totally deserve to have Elite Charged TM. So if you can keep one and have a Metagross with minimum stats of 15 Attack, 14 DEF, and 13 HP, you don’t even need to think twice before giving it a Meteor Mash. Just be sure to make him your best friend.
In short, always go with Meteor Mash Metagross.
So what is the perfect set of moves in Metagross?
All factors considered, Bullet Punch paired with Meteor Mash and Earthquake is the perfect move set for Metagross.

Attack: 300
Dave: 289
Horse: 190
Max CP (LVL 50): 5552
Max CP (LVL 40): 4911.00
Note: These statistics are subject to change. It may or may not remain the same upon release.
Zacian Crowned has an attack stat of 332 and if his signature move, Behemoth Blade, is better than Meteor Mash, you’ll outsmart Mega Metagross.
Solgaleo has an attack stat well below 255 and should be the Sunsteel Strike OP in order to get past the Mega Metagross.
But no matter what covers the Mega Metagross crown, this devastating beast will be among the hardest dead cream. Meteor Mash powered by 300 attack power is a devastating nail in the coffin of his opponents. You can count on it!
parting words
Metagross is a very reliable Mon game that will not disappoint you. With great performance in both PvP and PvE, it’s easy to see why it’s a huge favourite!
With an astonishing combination of both attack and formidable, powerful massive evolution and a guaranteed presence among the hard core type, this is among the most bankable pocket monsters in the franchise.
Go boost your Metagross to LVL 50 and Best Buddy it… You’ll be amazed at how disgusting quality it is (gross?) and how it reaps the game’s meta numbers on a consistent basis!
