A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck southern Iran near the city of Bandar Abbas, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The earthquake, which was at a depth of 10 kilometers, was raised from an initial magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake was felt as far away as Saudi Arabia and Dubai in the UAE, according to witness accounts on social media.

A local official told state television that there were no immediate reports of injuries and only minor damage.

“People felt the earthquake in several cities in southern Iran in Hormozgan province,” a local official told state television.

State television added that two earthquakes shook the area to which rescue teams were sent.

Residents in Dubai and Saudi Arabia have shared footage online of buildings shaking in the midst of the earthquake in southern Iran.

One resident said: The Dubai earthquake. I literally felt the ground shaking and I felt dizzy. I hope everyone is safe.”

Another added, “I felt dizzy and confused for a hot minute until I saw the curtains move! #earthquake Dubai, UAE.”

Other videos in the area show people evacuating the building after the earthquakes. The earthquake comes as the T20 World Cup final is scheduled to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium later on Sunday between New Zealand and Australia.

EMSC said it had received confirmation of mudslides in southern Iran following the 6.3-magnitude earthquake.
