La Palma eruptions for two months
It’s day 58 of the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma Island, with some indications now of a downward trend in its energy. This is defined by four basic criteria – moderate seismicity (10 to 15 km), volcanic tremors, terrain deformation and SO2 levels – and suggest we can look to the end in sight.
There are now three lava flows, numbered 1, 2 and 9, and the total affected area on the island is over 1,018 hectares.
