“It was a tough weekend and a lot of emotion, but we got there. We didn’t give up, we stayed united as a team and got the result we dreamed of.”

“I didn’t really get involved in that. Of course I’m aware of that,” he added. “I literally tried to do everything in my power to get ready for this weekend, make sure we arrived and got to work.
“I have no idea where they are heading in the discussion or what the outcome might be.”
Verstappen said Mercedes’ challenge over the referee did not surprise him, adding to Sky F1: “I think they already said after they were left out. [after Friday qualifying in Brazil] They will complain about everything, even if there is a tape hanging. I think this is a normal reaction, which is somewhat of a reason to expect it.
“It’s a small difference [to Silverstone, when Red Bull sought a right of review]. He was still winning the race, while I was at Silverstone at the Wall. These two are not the same, they are bothered by their incompetence.”
