A US Special Forces soldier moves to a suspected terrorist hideout after a Liverpool taxi explodes.

The mission of the elite unit appeared in photos sent to the Daily Mirror proving that the British Army was involved in smashing terrorist plots on British streets.

Several properties have been raided after a taxi exploded on Sunday outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

We understand that the SAS was brought in to lead the raids amid concerns that more bombers may be holed up.

One of the biggest concerns was that a terrorist cell planned the raids and armed itself with explosive vests and weapons.

Part of the Special Forces unit’s training is to quickly eliminate potential bombers before they have time to detonate the devices.

A senior source said last night: “The decision to send in the SAS was made very quickly due to the high level of training. The police counter-terrorism teams are very good but the special forces are so highly trained that when they enter the doors they don’t flinch.

“They are able to make decisions in milliseconds without hesitation and this saves lives in what may have turned out to be a very dangerous and risky situation.”

It was initially believed that bomber Emad Al-Sweilem was planning an attack on Liverpool Cathedral and had to be hospitalized due to traffic jams.

But it is now believed that the 32-year-old has been targeting the hospital all along. He was killed when his bomb exploded, although the charge is believed to have been activated prematurely and only partially exploded.
