Antonio Conte has promised Tottenham fans that he wants to make big changes at the club, but it will take time for results to come in.

This was only Conte’s second game in the league, and he already had his mind set on turning the club’s fortunes over.

“Our fans should know that we want to change everything,” Conte told Sky Sports after the match.

“It does not mean that we will win every game. But for sure we want to fight and be a problem in every game for our opponents.”

Spurs were booed off the pitch at halftime, as they reached six consecutive Premier League halves without scoring a shot on goal.

Tensions improved a lot after the break as Conte’s talk clearly had an effect, and the coach admitted after the match that he was not yet sure how fit his team would be.

“The feeling of the public often depends on us,” Conte said.

“Certainly in the first half, we didn’t play well and lost a lot of tackles. Maybe we conceded with a goal in the last minute of the first half was good.

“Then in the second half … we changed the plan, and I was very happy – they showed me a great will, a great desire to win this match, which was not easy.

“Before the match I was a bit afraid of knowing the players’ physical condition after three weeks, if they were able to play the full 90 minutes with the intensity of the second half.

I think we deserved to win because we created chances and played attractive football. The crowd was with us.”
