Liverpool achieved their five wins out of five in the “group of death” in the Champions League after beating Porto 2-0 at Anfield.
The Reds came to the match already qualified for the Round of 16 of the competition and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp made his youngster Tyler Morton his debut in the Champions League.
After the goalless first half, Thiago Alcantara opened the scoring in a sure way with a superb shot from outside the penalty area. Mohamed Salah got the three points with a good run and finish.
Here is a summary of what the national media have reported on Liverpool’s performance.

Jurgen Klopp happy with Thiago’s ‘Thunderball’ as Liverpool beat Porto
Andy Hunter, The Guardian:
“Nothing can disrupt Liverpool’s run with a set of European heavyweights. Jurgen Klopp rested, rejuvenated and rejuvenated against Porto and was rewarded with the fifth consecutive win with the highest-ever Champions League group stage win. He couldn’t have wished for more.
19-year-old Tyler Morton made his debut at Anfield and was the epitome of calm in midfield. Thiago Alcantara lit up the night with a stunning opening goal while Mohamed Salah provided another moment of individual brilliance to score his 17th goal in 17 games this season. This are the main points, but there was a lot more for Klopp to savor.
“The visitors started great with Luis Diaz’s rhythm on the left and Otavio creativity on the right, allied with Mehdi Tarimi’s air force, shaking the home defense. Their good work is constantly undermined by a poor finish, final ball or decision, however, Porto will finish their campaign In a three-way battle for second place with Atletico and Milan. Diego Simeone may be sweating from Liverpool’s result at the San Siro.”

“Thunderball” Thiago confirms the level of Liverpool and makes Porto pay
Chris Bascombe, The Telegraph:
Jurgen Klopp has compiled a long list of memorable Champions League nights during his tenure with Liverpool.
“Suffice to say, this routine victory at the end over Porto is not among them, however, in its own distinct way, it summed up the way why Liverpool once again is the team everyone in Europe wishes to avoid.
“Overcoming a team of Porto’s caliber when generally in second gear – securing a fifth straight set win in the process – is a skill that only the most accomplished have mastered.
“While Porto, Atletico Madrid and Milan are falling behind in a group that was initially considered ‘death’, Liverpool – who were already certain to qualify as group winners – confirmed their supremacy even at low stakes.”

The Reds maintain their record 100% in Europe this season after shouting Thiago
Joe Bernstein, Daily Mail:
A rare goal from Thiago Alcantara and the usual goal from Mohamed Salah were enough to keep Liverpool’s record 100 per cent in the Champions League this season – a feat that only Bayern Munich and Ajax can match.
Porto had chances to upset Anfield but they were undone early in the second half when Thiago scored his first goal of the season with a superb hemisphere strike from 25 yards.
In contrast, Salah’s contribution to scoring was quite expected as he maintained his current goal-per-game ratio before Jurgen Klopp withdrew to save him for bigger battles in the future.
Wearing the number 80 jersey, the competition wasn’t annoying [Morton]. Playing alongside Thiago, a player he particularly admires, he did everything to make his parents, season ticket holders of Anfield Road proud of him, his card and his reading of the game.”

The magic spell of Thiago Alcantara keeps historic cleanliness in sight
Paul Joyce, The Times:
Reactions from around Thiago Alcantara told the story.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stood motionless, only staring, Ibrahima Konate thrust his hands over his head in disbelief, while, on the touchline, Jürgen Klopp burst into a long applause and a beaming smile.
“It was a lukewarm match, in the case of the test, in the Champions League against Porto that was revived by a shot from Alcantara in which he showed all the techniques he is blessed with.
“A free kick from Oxlade-Chamberlain shortly after the first half headed off Otavio and the ball rose attractively, 30 yards, towards the Spaniard, who was Liverpool’s deepest player.”
