Allegations Prince Charles asked about the skin color of Harry and Meghan’s children, which the palace described as “fantasy” | UK news

The palace has denied “fabulous” allegations that Prince Charles was the king who speculated about the skin color of the children of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

US author Christopher Andersen claims the prince made the comment on the day Harry and Meghan’s engagement was announced in November 2017.

Andersen makes these allegations in his new book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan.

The Prince of Wales wrote to the Duchess of Cornwall: “I wonder what the children would look like?”

When Camilla replies, “Well, pretty cool, I’m sure,” the book claims Charles went on to say, “I mean, what do you think their children’s skin might be?”

In response, a palace source told Sky royal reporter Rhiannon Mills: “This is fiction and does not deserve further comment.”

Andersen stopped short of accusing Prince Charles of racism, saying “conspiring courtiers” make her a “spindle,” Page Six of the New York Post reported.

More on the Duchess of Sussex

Prince Harry and Meghan have accused a member of the royal family of racism in allegations made during an interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year.

Meghan said that when she was pregnant with Archie, an unnamed member of the royal family sparked “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin was when he was born”.

Meghan declined to specify who made the comments, adding: “I think it would be very harmful to them.”

But Sussex later clarified that she is neither the Queen nor the Duke of Edinburgh.

It comes as Charles arrives in Barbados ahead of a historic ceremony that will see the country swear in its first president and officially end the Queen’s role as head of state.
