Pep Guardiola has provided a team news update on Jack Grealish ahead of a possible return to Aston Villa as Manchester City travel to Villa Park on Wednesday.
Grealish missed the win over West Ham for fitness reasons, along with Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne, and Guardiola confirmed that the three had doubts about the Villa Park match.
Aymeric Laporte has been suspended for his trip to Villa, which means John Stones – who was also a minor concern against West Ham – could be back.
Guardiola also responded to Lionel Messi’s seventh Ballon d’Or win on Monday, with five City players named to the top 30 list. Riyad Mahrez and City Women’s midfielder Caroline Weir were also nominated for the Puskas Award. Guardiola may be asked about the appointment of Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United, as well as the possibility of facing new Villa coach Steven Gerrard.
