Manchester United’s hopes of sealing a deal for midfielder Amadou Haidara appear to be growing. The Times had earlier reported Ralph Rangnick’s interest in a deal.
The Sun reports Rangnick has been in contact with Hydra’s agent Volker Stroth, describing the deal as “completely done”.
United supporters may recognize Struth’s name from Toni Kroos’ transfer saga in 2014, when David Moyes drafted a deal that Louis van Gaal didn’t follow.

Haidara has a £33m release clause in his RB Leipzig contract, making the deal remarkably simple from United’s end.
While he could head into the Africa Cup of Nations with Mali in January, that’s not seen as a huge hurdle, The Sun reports.
Rangnick is a big fan of Hydra, having signed his contract with RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg. Quoting Bundesliga.com at the time of the deal, United’s interim boss described the midfielder as an “extremely exceptional” talent.
The right time to change
United’s midfield needs reinforcements, with Paul Pogba’s future unclear and Nemanja Matic likely to move at the end of the season as well.
Hydara has been at Leipzig since 2019 and could need a new challenge, and United are sure to provide it. At 23 years old, he is of good age to move to the Premier League.
And the German club confirmed that this is also the time for a changeover at RB Leipzig, as coach Jesse Marsh was sacked over the weekend.
Haidara has made over 100 appearances for RB Leipzig since his move and is a player Rangnick knows will fit into his system and can develop further.

The midfielder scored in Leipzig’s 3-2 victory over United last December in the Champions League.
Hydra’s move would be a reasonable transfer for United to make, cementing a region in need of fresh faces. Even if he heads to the Africa Cup of Nations immediately, he’s well worth the wait, and will provide United a real boost over the final few months of the season.
