Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok is supposed to be the “most ambitious” expansion in franchise history — and it has a price to offer. A look at the Dawn of Ragnarok page on the PlayStation Store confirms that the downloadable content will not be part of the Valhalla Season Pass, which has already introduced two previous expansions: Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris.
This was largely to be expected, with Ubisoft ever saying the season pass would cover two distinct expansions — and the second year of Valhalla support wasn’t part of the publisher’s original plan.
So, you have to pay for Dawn of Ragnarok. It’s available for pre-purchase now (doing so gives you a set of armor, weapon, and animal skins to use in the main game, starting today), and is priced at £32.99 / $39.99. It’s a reasonably huge sign – the kind of douche that some budget titles ask for.
It will be interesting to see how big the Dawn of Ragnarok is. I was hoping that if Ubisoft was charging more than £30/$30 for it, it would basically be its own game. We will likely learn more in the coming weeks.
