LG reveals the weirdest OLED and LED-LCD TVs you’ll see all year

[ad_1]

LG is kicking off CES 2022 a bit early by announcing two new series of lifestyle TVs that aim to blend form and function. Well kinda.

The first is a beautiful OLED TV – called the Objet TV – that uses LG’s brightest OLED evo panels and sits at a 5-degree angle to the wall giving it an artistic home feel, it seems.

When not fully revealed, there is a canvas screen that can cover the TV and is lowered incrementally to reveal small portions of the TV at a time.

Why do you want to see only half of the screen? Like the LG R-Series Rollable TV shown at CES a few years ago, LG says you’ll be able to play music without having to see the entire screen or provide a small line to keep track of the date and time.

Launching in Korea only for about 9.9 million won (about £6,000 / $8,000 / AU$11,800), it’s surprisingly the second weirdest TV LG has announced today.

LG’s weirdest design? StanbyME is a TV on a pole

Look, TV on a pole doesn’t look weird – but the more I think about it, the weirder it gets.

Designed for use by anyone in any room of the home, the LG StanbyME has a built-in battery that attaches to a trolley with hidden wheels that allow for three hours of viewing before recharging.

The 27-inch StanbyME monitor can be tilted, rotated, raised or lowered for “optimal comfort when lying in bed, cooking in the kitchen or lying on the living room sofa.”

The rest of the time, it’ll serve as the perfect travel gadget on your way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, or as a completely breakable electronic device for toddlers and young children who don’t see the artistic value in a he-she.

There’s no word yet on the price or availability of the StanbyME, but we’re expecting to see it on the show floor — an attendee likely brought it up — at CES 2022.
