Five new symptoms of the Omicron coronavirus variant have been discovered and they differ from previous virus strains.
The NHS website is still asking anyone with the three classic symptoms of Covid-19 – high temperatures, a new persistent cough and loss of smell or taste – to get a free PCR test as soon as possible.
But doctors and epidemiologists believe that Omicron presents differently than the Alpha, Beta, and Delta strains, so it’s important to be aware of new symptoms and what to look for.

It comes as Health Minister Sajid Javid said the new variant is causing about 200,000 new infections per day.
The UK has recorded its first death related to Omicron, and there are 10 people in hospital with this variant.
Most of these 10 received two vaccines and were between the ages of 18 and 85, although there were no details on whether they had underlying conditions.
Although some people report mild reactions to Omicron, many have noticed that it is not the same as before.
Early reports indicate that the new variant has five distinct symptoms of its own.

Dr. Angelique Coetzee, president of the South African Medical Association, who was one of the first to suspect the Omicron strain, said she had noticed different symptoms from Delta on patients in her private clinic.
She told AFP that she alerted health officials to a “clinical picture that did not fit Delta” when seven patients showed various symptoms that seemed “largely related to normal viral infections”.
She said her patients experienced extreme fatigue, mild muscle aches, a sore throat and a dry cough.
She added, unlike previous variants, this type does not cause a loss of taste or smell.
Night sweats – which happen when you sweat so much that your night clothes and bedding get wet – have also been noticed by doctors in South Africa, where the alternative was first discovered.
In a briefing held by the South African Department of Health, GP Unben Pillay listed symptoms reported by Omicron patients.
One sign that many patients experience and display is “night sweats,” he said.
