Police, who are investigating the disappearance of a 20-year-old man after he visited a nightclub in central London last week, have begun searching the River Thames after reviewing CCTV footage.

Scotland Yard said a search for Harvey Parker was ordered after officers found footage indicating he may have “entered the water” near the Golden Jubilee pedestrian bridge linking Embankment to Waterloo. “At this stage of the investigation, there is no indication that a third party was involved,” it said in a statement.

Parker, from Lambeth in south London, was seen leaving Haven Nightclub alone near Charing Cross railway station in Westminster at around 2.15am last Friday.

“We are doing everything we can to find Harvey, and are working closely with our colleagues in the Marine Police Unit,” said DCI Lucy O’Connor, Central Protection Unit South.

She added, “We are keeping the Harvey family fully informed of any developments. The thoughts of my colleagues and I are with them at this sad time. We also ask the media to avoid any speculation while the investigation continues.”

On Tuesday, police released CCTV footage of Parker leaving the nightclub. They then showed him entering Craven Street and heading south toward the Checkpoint. He has not been seen since.

“This is a horrific ordeal for Harvey’s family and friends, and I would urge anyone who sees him or has any information to contact the police immediately,” said DS Dick Nation, also of the Central Protection Units South.

The Royal Stratford East Theater tweeted that Parker was a member of the cast and issued a plea for help finding him.

A friend said the York University music student had attended the Little Sims concert in Brixton, south London, before going to the Heaven nightclub.

Parker’s relatives have also taken to social media to seek help in locating him.
