The school’s vice principal has been jailed for 13 years and four months after she and her partner filmed themselves raping and sexually abusing a child.
Julie Morris, 44, was the protection leader at St George’s Central C of E Elementary School in Wigan. She and partner David Morris, 52, filmed themselves abusing and raping a girl under the age of 13 in a series of videos.
At Wednesday’s hearing, Julia Morris pleaded guilty to 18 counts, including two counts of rape, nine counts of inducing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. .
She also pleaded guilty to three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child, one count of sexual contact with a child, and one count of possessing indecent photographs of a child.
David Morris has pleaded guilty to 34 counts at a previous hearing. He was imprisoned for 16 years, with the license period extended by four years.
The Liverpool Crown Court heard that videos showed Julie Morris laughing as the violation occurred.
These crimes had nothing to do with Julie Morris’ employment at the school in Wigan.
Attorney General John Wayne Williams said the couple met on the dating app, Plenty of Fish, in 2016. They met after breaking up with their partners, and their relationship quickly became “intensely sexual.”
“The connection between them became graphic and corrupt which resulted in some of their sexual fantasies becoming a reality,” said Mr. Wayne Williams.
He added that after seizing the phone during a search warrant, police found a conversation about child sexual abuse involving David Morris.
After his arrest, he was warned, released, and more devices were seized that revealed rape and sexual assault records.
Mr Wayne Williams said both defendants were arrested the next day, adding: “They were on their way to the Lake District in a carriage with £10,000 in their possession.”
Officers examined 175,000 pages of letters between Julie and David Morris. They also created a group chat with the victim in which they talked about how their abuse was planned.
David Morris, of Sandfield Road, Eccleston, St Helens, pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to seven counts of rape, and 13 counts of causing or abetting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, taking indecent photographs, Class A, B and C, possessing and distributing indecent photographs, two counts of engaging in sexual contact with a child, three counts of voyeurism, and possession of extreme pornography. Possession of a prohibited photograph of a child.
The court heard that Julie Morris, of Ancroft Drive, Hindley, would also take pictures of other children, which were not obscene, and send them to her partner “to satisfy his penchant for the sexual abuse of young children.”
Judge Andrew Minari, honorary registrar of Liverpool, said: “Every now and then you see cases, and the circumstances are almost unbelievable. This is one of those cases. It shows that human corruption doesn’t really know the depths.”
In an interview, Julie Morris admitted to the crimes but claimed that the victim wanted to be involved.
“This latest statement is breathtaking in its inappropriateness,” said Judge Minari.
Paul Baker, who defends Julie Morris, said she “has lost everything in life,” including her reputation, her career and her home.
He said: She was greatly appreciated before they came.
He said that when she met David Morris she was on “low tide” after finding out that her husband of 15 years had been unfaithful.
The case was one of the worst she had seen in her career, Mered Neeson, chief prosecutor at the Public Prosecution Service, adding, “The description of what they did is so horrifying that when I finished reading it, I was in tears.”
“He is a child whose innocence has been stolen.”
Speaking out of court, lead investigator Biff Hyland said: “What makes this case even more troubling is the fact that Julie Morris has held a trusted position as an educator, and has taken on a leadership role, yet she has seen fit in her personal life to disregard all the responsibilities and trust that she has. She takes on her role.”
