Kids in Fukushima enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of the first multiple parks themed Pokémon on December 12, 2021. The Pokémon Co Ltd, inspired by the company’s popular character Chancey, donated it.
With slides and swings on the playground in the shape of Pokemon, the parks aim to charm and entertain the children of the area. Naturally, the children started playing excitedly in this first park in Namaa town.

Fukushima Prefecture and the Pokémon Company signed an agreement to promote reconstruction and tourism for the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and Chancei was selected to be “Fukushima Supportive Pokémon.”
At the opening ceremony, company official Taku Kawamoto said: “Chancey is believed to bring happiness. I believe we can bring more happiness to this city.”
“I wanted a park where everyone could play,” said a 12-year-old boy in the 16th grade who loves the smartphone game Pokémon GO. Then he added with a smile, “I was looking forward to this day.”
Similar chanse-themed gardens are being developed in Koriyama City, Yanazu Town, and Showa Village in Fukushima Prefecture.
