Ashes Boxing Day testing starts soon. Hello, good afternoon and welcome to our live blog about Australia vs England in the third match of the series; The action comes to you from Melbourne Cricket Ground.

I’m Alan Tiers, and I look forward to speaking with you during the first few hours of gameplay. Things should brighten up for all of you around tea time, when my wonderful fellow Mr. Jake Goodwill joins us.

The news from Victoria is that England has made four changes, and if you watched a lot of the first two Tests, you have to say: Thank goodness. Rory Burns and Olly Pop, both of whom have been working at chocolate jug levels so far, have given way to Zach Crowley and Johnny Bairstow. There can be few who would argue with these two choice decisions.

England also threw Jack Leach again into battle. Well, good luck, son.

The fourth and final change, and hopefully the one that will change things up a bit, is to bring Mark Wood back quickly. Stewart Broad and Chris Woks are the pals who will be up to the task.

Anyway, that was the team’s news in the hours leading up to the start; We’ll know for sure at the lottery. We expect Australia to make two adjustments. Skipper Pat Cummins is back; He has missed Adelaide after coming under pressure due to close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19. Scott Boland is here. He became the second player with Aboriginal Australian heritage to play for the men’s test team. J Richardson and Michael Nesser withdrew from the eleventh.

England may wear black armbands I imagine; Ray Ellingworth’s death is sure to be on the minds of many fans and followers of cricket in England. The former England captain and captain died this Christmas. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Needless to say, Skeld has made a beautiful tribute to the Yorkshire office.
