How to work on your new VED band
VED consists of two parts. You will have to pay the first year price for one time in 12 months of initially registering your vehicle.
After this period, you will pay a standard price. For vehicles registered on or after 1 April 2017, this is currently £155, but will increase to £165 from 1 April 2022.
Vehicles priced over £40,000 when new are required to pay an additional £355 a year on top of the standard five-year price.
Your first VED payment will depend on the amount of carbon dioxide emissions your vehicle produces.
