It has been reported that Manchester United players are already in trouble with Chris Armas after his appointment. The American recently moved to Old Trafford to work as an assistant to Ralph Rangnick. However, those within the team are currently unconvinced of his credentials and are going through another turbulent period.

Manchester United’s coaching staff has changed in recent weeks, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked.

Michael Carrick’s survival was expected, especially when he was temporarily assigned the responsibility in the immediate aftermath of his former teammate’s departure.

However, Carrick left to spend more time with his family, having been at United since arriving as a player in the 2006 summer transfer window.

Kieran McKenna has also left United since then, while goalkeeper coach Richard Hartis has been another victim of Solskjaer’s sacking.

Rangnick recently brought Armas with him to the club, after being impressed by the 49-year-old’s work in America.

However, Athletic say the players, so far, have not been impressed by the former New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC coach.

This news is the latest to come around United, who are currently going through another turbulent period in their recent history.

When Rangnick was appointed, both Glazer and John Murtaugh hoped he would make an immediate impact in English football.

But with the club winning just three out of six matches under the 63-year-old, things have not gone so well.

To make matters worse, many players are keen to leave the club behind – either in January or in the summer.

Donny van de Beek has been fed up with the lack of minutes, as the Netherlands international has made just four Premier League games since his relegation from Ajax.

Jesse Lingard is “equally unhappy with the amount of time he’s spent playing” and is expected to leave on a free transfer.

Anthony Martial also fell in the standings list amid interest from Sevilla, Newcastle and Barcelona.

And with Eric Bailly failing to get many chances, the Ivory Coast international is also looking to move away.

Speaking when he hired United last month, former New York Red Bulls star Dax McCarty revealed he had been told the 49-year-old was a ‘winner’.

“The first thing Jesse Marsh told me about bringing in Chris was that the guy was the winner,” he said.

“(Chris) has a contagious positivity towards him that will spread throughout the club – and as you know, Jesse was not wrong.

“Chris’s role has evolved throughout my time there as captain but, first and foremost, he was just a great channel between the players and the head coach.

“When Jesse and Chris came to Red Bull, they valued the nature and opinions of the players who had been at Red Bull for a while, and wanted to incorporate the opinions or sentiments of our veteran team into basically everything we did.

“This was something Chris was really good at: being that guy who could put his arm around you and get your honest opinion about what we were doing and what we were trying to achieve.”

United next match against Aston Villa on Monday (7.55pm).
