Ari Winks has revealed that Tottenham’s players conducted a “cruel and honest” investigation into the dressing room at halftime ahead of their late FA Cup rescue mission against Morecambe.

Tottenham survived a major shock as they recovered and scored three goals in the last 16 minutes to come from behind to beat the top-flight strugglers 3-1 on Sunday.

Spurs struggled, especially in the first half, until Antonio Conte called in the cavalry and introduced Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Oliver Skipp in the 69th minute.

Winks equalized with a free kick after five minutes before Lucas put Tottenham in front and Kane won.

The Winks said it was disappointing that Spurs’ second series was saved by their star once again after a show he said “wasn’t good enough”.

We weren’t sharp or aggressive enough. We didn’t play with enough pressure or intensity. We could have upped our game a lot,” Winks said.

“Between half-time, there were a lot of harsh and honest words spoken. It wasn’t good enough and we know it. We hold ourselves accountable. We did better in the second half than the first, but it’s not good enough.

“These are the kinds of games where for the first 10 or 15 minutes you need to calm everyone down, calm the fans down and then enjoy the game. We made the afternoon fun on a tough day. We didn’t have to do that.

“We got the score, we got the win, and nothing makes us so happy because we made it hard for ourselves and we shouldn’t really celebrate. We have to look back and see what we can do better.”
