Betty White’s cause of death has been confirmed as a stroke that occurred six days before her death, according to reports.

Wyatt, the Golden Girls actress, passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 99, just weeks before her 100th birthday and the news sent shockwaves around the world.

TMZ claims that the cause of her death was listed as a cerebrovascular accident, the official term for stroke. She later died peacefully in her sleep in her home.

A stroke is a serious, life-threatening medical condition that occurs when blood flow to part of the brain is cut off.

It is a medical emergency and urgent treatment is essential. The sooner a person receives treatment for a stroke, the less damage is likely.
