Mohamed Salah says putting his contract ‘in the hands of Liverpool’ as the Reds seek to tie up their most influential star.
Salah’s current deal expires in 2023, which has led to rumors of him leaving Anfield. Barcelona and Real Madrid are supposed to monitor the situation.
A report in December claimed the attacker had three demands before agreeing to new terms on Merseyside.
He wants to become one of the highest paid players in the Premier League, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne. A wage of around £400,000 a week will do.
Salah is also eager for more recognition at Liverpool, although the report fails to explain what this means. His final demand is for the club to get a new striker, making him less dependent on his scoring output.
The 29-year-old is currently with the Egypt national team at the Africa Cup of Nations. But during a recent interview with GQ, he sent a plea to the Liverpool board of directors to finalize his future.
“I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands. They know what I want. I don’t ask for crazy things,” Salah said.
“The thing is when you ask for something and they show you they can give you something (they should) because they appreciate what you did for the club.
“I’ve been here in my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me.
But with management, (they were told) the situation. It’s in their hands.”
Salah has been at the top of his game this campaign, scoring 23 goals in just 26 matches. That includes seven out of six Champions League matches, helping Liverpool qualify from Group B with a perfect winning record.
He also faces Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi for the 2021 FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award.

Analyst judges Salah’s condition
Liverpool were recently told that they are ‘opening the door’ to Salah’s exit by spending too much time negotiating.
During an interview with Football Insider, former striker Kevin Campbell sent a warning.
Salah could be at the top of the list [for PSG],” he said. “It is a real possibility.
“Negotiations are taking a long time at Liverpool. They give the other teams a chance to focus on him. They open the door. It has to be settled as soon as possible.
“Paris Saint-Germain would be interested in someone who can score the number Salah achieves, 100 per cent. Who wouldn’t be?
“Paris Saint-Germain will need to be replaced [Kylian] Mbappe’s goals if he leaves. There are not many in the world who can do that but Salah is definitely one of them.”
