Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet get divorced after 16 years together.

Momoa, 42, posted a joint statement on his behalf and Bonet, who has not officially appeared on social media, late Wednesday night (January 12) on Instagram.

The actors first met at a jazz club in Los Angeles in 2004, and they have two children — daughter Lola and son Nakoa Wolfe — together. The Aquaman star also helped the 54-year-old Bonett raise actress Zoe Kravitz, whom she shares with Grammy Award-winning ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.

Momoa and Bonnet married in a secret ceremony in 2017.

The couple’s statement regarding their divorce read: “We have all felt the pressures and changes of these transformative times… A revolution is unfolding – and our family is no exception… Feeling and growing from the seismic shifts that are taking place.

“And so, we share the news of our family, that we are parting in marriage.”

Momoa and Bonet made it clear that the decision to publicly announce their separation was not made because they believed it was “worth publishing” but instead “as we go on with our lives, we may do so with dignity and honesty.”

“The love between us is enduring, evolving in the ways it desires to be known and lived,” the couple said in the joint statement, adding, “We liberate each other to be what we learn to become…”

Momoa previously revealed that he was harboring a longtime crush on The Cosby Show alum.

During his 2017 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, he said, “Since I was eight and saw her on TV, I’ve been like, ‘Mom, I want it.'”

In an interview with Porter the following year, Bonet said the pair had been together “since the day they met” when they shared a meal of Guinness and Frix.

At the time, she praised Momoa as someone who “embodies a rare form of masculinity in this day and age.”

Momoa, who shot to stardom after his stint as Cal Drogo on Game of Thrones, is said to be very close to both Zoë and Lenny Kravitz.
