Ashes 2021-22 Fifth Test, Day Two: Australia vs England – LIVE! | sports

64th place: Australia 246-7 (Carrey 12, latency 0).

There’s a paddle pad for Wood now. Stark is arrested as described. Cummins is next, Wood headed down, but Billings dressed brilliantly, sprawling to his left. Wood is clearly trying to cut him short, while Cummins is ditching someone else. So Wood came around the wicket and hit Cummins. The captain wanted to bend over, it wasn’t that high, and he was working on (what looks like) his forearm.

The wicket! Starc c Burns b Wood 3 (Australia 246/7)

Knock the wood in short, Starc was late for that – he did his top edge and was picked up by the retracted Rory Burns in the square leg, as easily as you like. Stark looked uncomfortable facing Wood, and Wood got his man.

63rd place: Australia 246-6 (Carrey 12, Stark 3)

Brod is very straight, allowing Kari to raise his hip to his square leg for one. Some chatting on the radio here about who’s applying…Most agree that, judging by England, Australia is missing its chance in the first session. It must be said that the stadium now looks much easier than yesterday. Mike Atherton also notes that there were some whispers that Craig Overton was due to play yesterday, before Ole Robinson was signed at the last minute. I am writing this as we watch Ben Stokes seek to check the referee’s pink ball once more. Cricket is back, and Starc seems more comfortable stepping into Broad than the man at the other end. There’s something going on here… Broad has to pull out of his flight, right before the meeting, and he’s been largely put off by Fox SpiderCam, FoxCam, or whatever it’s called. object to it. Michael Vaughan laughs nervously, before they cut out the SpiderCam.

62nd place: Australia 244-6 (Carrey 11, Stark 2)

Wood’s first was timed perfectly well away from the Starc platforms for a single person. Wood was running really hard – although I suppose he always has. Carrie gets you one for a thin leg. His partner Starc rides a flying ball to the floor quite easily, urging from next to center on a slightly bouncy look, and that’s over.

61st: Australia 242-6 (Carrey 10, Stark 1)

Wood accompanies extensively. Starc drives smoothly early on but Stokes moves up halfway and throws trunks too. Starc gets one because of his problem and is off target. Carrie tries to drive the next car, but can’t beat the middle of the road. Next in the same area: Curry intentionally leaves.

3.32am GMT03:32

Over-60: Australia 241-6 (Carrey 10, Stark 0)

The wood starts with a very sharp yorker for a curry, and he bolts it on to the square leg. Only three balls in this one more, not bad to start with. Next Carrey finally beats, big plea, Wood celebrates…but then there’s doubt, no review, and the replay confirms Carrey wasn’t close to her. Curry defends the latter until the middle of the road.

I said it was cloudy on the screen. Well, the sun is shining now! Jerusalem sings and sings. They were far away.

Looks like Olly Robinson is struggling…

Ali Martin (@Cricket_Ali)

Olly Robinson is still fighting back spasms – he won’t be able to run in the first session but will step in if he’s in a position to move on to later. England hopes to have risen by then…

Preamble

Morning, afternoon, evening everything. Well, we dealt with a hiccup yesterday, right? 12 to 3 calls for Bellerive to be stripped of test status, to Head’s Run-a-ball 100, to hand more The Cam Green Promise, and that constant questioning of what James Anderson could have done and what he would have done with it all.

In all, Australia finished with a score of 241-6 – a number that would satisfy most people after a full day of playing, yet this was achieved 59.3 times. Perhaps that wasn’t exactly what CEO Wicket had predicted before the match.

However, both teams are hoping to move things forward today. For Australia, quick rounds and England shooting under the spotlight, and for England, fingers crossed that the Bellerive wicket is fading, as is the local promise.
