It was full of twists and turns.

There has been controversy since January 4, when Djokovic announced he had been given a medical exemption to play in the Australian Open.

Australia requires all foreign visitors to be vaccinated twice, or to complete a 14-day quarantine.

Many ordinary Australians were outraged that the tennis star was apparently allowed into the country under an undisclosed medical exemption.

Djokovic’s visa was then canceled upon arrival in Melbourne by border officials, who rejected the exemption documents.

He immediately launched a legal appeal, but was first transferred to an immigration detention center where he spent five days in detention.

The resulting court case last Monday revealed that Djokovic’s exemption was due to the Covid-19 infection he contracted in mid-December.

He won his case on Monday on the grounds that border officials did not give him enough time to explain his situation at the airport.

He was released from the immigration detention center and immediately went to the courts to rehearse for the Grand Slam.

But the government has warned that it is considering canceling his visa again, especially when questions arose about his movements after his positive test.

Djokovic admitted on Wednesday that he broke the isolation rules in one case, while giving a media interview and taking pictures when he learned he tested positive.

Two days later, the Australian government issued a second visa revocation – this time on the grounds that it posed a threat to the health of the Australian community.
