Kathmandu: Today the 24th National Earthquake Safety Day is being celebrated under the theme “Earthquake Awareness: A Safe Structure”.
Due to the threat of coronavirus, public awareness about earthquake safety will be increased via virtual programs this year.
The day is celebrated every year at Magh 2 to commemorate the earthquake that occurred at Magh 2 in 1990BS. Director General of Urban Development and Building Construction Padam Kumar Mainali has informed that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Home Minister Balkrishna Khand and Urban Development Minister Ram Kumari Jankri are talking about the hypothetical programme.
However, very few people will physically attend the program.
The department has appealed to the parents to join the program via the Zoom application.
A person wishing to attend the program can access the Zoom ID and passcode from the Ministry of Interior website.
The 2015 Gorkha earthquake is the latest reminder of the devastating incident that occurred in Nepal.
