Friends say the fact that they traveled 4,000 miles on a three-day visit to the city shows it was “especially special” for the couple.

An insider told The Sun: “Taylor is a superstar and obviously very rich, so she can travel anywhere she wants at almost any time.

“But obviously going that far for a few days means a lot to them.

“It seems that things are getting serious and people think that the engagement can be on paper. That could explain such a long journey to a certain place.

Taylor keeps her sheets close to her chest, but they are definitely very happy and enjoying their time together.

“The lockdown made things more serious and they lived together the whole time.”

Sources said the duo, who have been together for six years, rented a house to visit St Ives to maximize their romantic solitude rather than stay in a hotel.

Three nights later, they returned to the United States on the 3,000-mile trip to Maine.

“It looks like a great trip,” added Siddiq.

Taylor, 32, and Joe, 30, have split their time between the US and London in recent years, sharing a £7m home in Primrose Hill – although she still considers Nashville her “main home”.
