Rooney ‘will find it very difficult to refuse’
Sky Sports correspondent Kafe Solhikol believes Wayne Rooney will “find it very difficult to turn down” Everton if he approaches the vacant managerial position.
The former Everton striker is doing well in the Derby County Championship squad, giving the Rams a fighting chance to survive despite a nasty points deduction.
Discussing the possibility of Rooney being lined up by the Blues, Solhekol said: “The information we have is that although Wayne Rooney is focused and working hard at Derby County, I think if he had the opportunity to return to Everton he would find it very difficult to say. No.
“Personally, I think he is doing a great job in the derby in very difficult circumstances.
“If he’s going back to Everton, you’re talking about someone who owns football at that club.
“My personal opinion is that if they go to Wayne Rooney, it would be the start of something special for Everton and also Wayne Rooney.
“A lot of people think he deserves a chance to manage the Premier League now. He will have a huge impact.
“I think if Roberto Martinez doesn’t go, Wayne Rooney is a real contender for the job as well.”
