The chance to win the Cup and qualify for the final is at stake tonight, as Liverpool heads to Arsenal, with the League Cup semi-final qualification confusingly after a goalless draw in the first leg. Arsenal clung to the clean sheet and got a late chance from Takumi Minamino, having been relegated to 10 men earlier in the match after Granit Xhaka’s red card.
This means there is everything to play for that night as one of these two teams qualify to face Chelsea in the final at Wembley. Since the first leg, the Reds are back in action and back to their scoring level, putting up three hits against Brentford at the weekend which included Japan striker Minamino who scored the final goal for a moment of recovery after missing the first leg.
But Arsenal, its match against Tottenham was postponed after injuries, loaning players and the Covid issue, which led to criticism from some quarters. President Mikel Arteta is behind the upcoming plans for the rule change: “There are some rules to play a football match and when you can’t meet those rules or numbers, the game stops. It’s that easy. We can’t do that and keep doing the same while saying ‘yes it should be discussed’. “Because it’s already been discussed. It’s time to change it if everyone agrees it’s the best way to do it.” Stay tuned for all the latest updates as Arsenal face Liverpool below:
