Leeds United are looking to score three consecutive league victories this week by beating Newcastle United at Island Road.
Despite a host of injuries to their top players, Leeds managed a 3-1 3-2 victory over Burnley and West Ham United this month, beginning 2022 in good shape.
Adam Furshaw and Junior Firpo are expected to miss today’s game after hamstring injuries during the win at London Stadium six days ago. Diego Llorente, Tyler Roberts and Joe Gilhart are expected to return to the first-team squad after suspension and injury.
The news that Patrick Bamford has overcome a hamstring problem, and subsequent hip complaints are tainted by the fact that Marcelo Bielsa has revealed the England striker has a new foot injury. He is also expected to miss proceedings at Elland Road this afternoon.
Newcastle will be without Matt Ritchie and Callum Wilson, although Alan St-Maximin, Kieran Trippier and Leeds former Chris Wood are likely to be involved.
Lagging behind Leeds by ten points in the Premier League table, the Al-Aqaq team will head off to Saudi Arabia and a warm-weather training camp after today’s game.
The match starts at 3 pm.
