(Reuters) – A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck southern Alaska’s Onalaska, a major fishing port of 4,700 full-time residents, on Friday, the Alaska Seismological Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks said.
The center said the quake occurred at 8:17 pm (0517 GMT on Saturday).
The US Geological Survey (USGS), which recorded the 6.2-magnitude quake, said the quake struck 74 kilometers (46 miles) south of Onalaska at a depth of three kilometers.
The US Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning after the quake.
