Trucking company Yamato launches cargo flights

[ad_1]

Major Japanese delivery company Yamato Holdings has decided to launch its own freighter flights to make up for the shortage of long-distance drivers.

Yamato plans to lease three aircraft that will be operated by Japan Airlines Group. The cargo flights will connect five domestic airports, including Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Narita.

It is scheduled to take off in 2024, when truck drivers’ overtime hours will be capped at 960 hours per year. This is expected to exacerbate the labor shortage in delivery companies.
