Bondit made Calvin Phillips comment when the Aston Villa player was on the verge of shock

Aston Villa held out for a one-way home win at Goodison Park as they faced off against the rejuvenated Everton side under Duncan Ferguson on Saturday.

It was a good all-round performance by everyone in the Villa shirt, but the player who was particularly impressive was Jacob Ramsey.

He has scored 71 touches, 11 wins, three tackles, six forward passes, and the most touches on the side with 41.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Villa player Gabriel Agbonlahor said about Ramsey’s performance. He said: “For me, Jacob Ramsey is getting better in every game and he seems more confident.

“This is what happens when you are 20 years old, you learn every game, you take advice in every game, and you learn from the players you play against.

“He’s an outstanding player at the moment. I’m sure having a midfielder like Steven Gerrard as your manager will only help.

“If you look at the history of Gareth Southgate, you don’t need to be good in the Premier League for four years. Calvin Phillips did well for one season in the Championship and he was called up.

“If Ramsey continues to improve at the rate at which he plays and plays at the levels he is, why not? 10 months away from the World Cup, why not look forward to breaking into the England squad?

“I love the way he thinks about it, he’s not content with being in the U-21 team.”

The 20-year-old has already started nearly three times as many Premier League games this season than he did last year, and shows no signs of slowing down in terms of his development.

With each performance Ramsey grows in confidence and abilities, as he has shown that he can play either as a true midfielder or at a higher level off the field.

From his long, winding runs around opponents to developing a cutting edge in front of goal, Ramsey has consistently shown confidence and maturity beyond his years. The sky is the limit for the Great Barr midfielder who fans sing “He’s One of Us” at every opportunity.

If he continues to develop and produce for Steven Gerrard’s team, he will not be far from Gareth Southgate’s plans in England.
