If you finish Wordle today, try these other word games

Wordle gives you one puzzle per day, but other word games let you play as much as you want.

The language of power

Wordle has taken over social media. You can’t open Twitter or Facebook without seeing someone post a bunch of gray, yellow, and green blocks, a meme about the game or their thoughts on the best starting word.

Wordle asks players to discover a five-letter word in six guesses or less. After each guess, the game shows gray blocks for the wrong letters, yellow blocks for the correct letters in the wrong place and green blocks for the letters in the correct space. It’s addictive, but after solving the daily puzzle or using all your guesses, you have to wait until the next day to play again.

Here are eight more word-based games for you to play while you wait for your next Wordle.

Entertain your mind with the coolest news from broadcasts to superheroes and memes to video games.

Master word

This new version of Wordle gives you six attempts to guess a five letter word but with a slight modification. Word Master uses gray, yellow, and green blocks in the same way as the original. How is it different from Wordle? Word Master offers unlimited games, so you don’t have to wait 24 hours.

You can play Word Master on any web browser.

hello word

Hello Wordl – another version of Wordle – gives you six attempts to guess a word and use the same colored blocks to track your progress. In addition to unlimited games, Hello Wordl also allows you to change the number of letters in the word you are guessing. Guess a four letter word or use the in-game slider to move to an 11 letter word. You still have six chances to guess regardless of word length.

You can play Hello Wordl on any web browser.

silly

Doodling describes itself as a “hostile copy” of Wordle. While Wordle points you in the right direction with each guess, Absurdle is “actively trying to avoid giving you the answer,” according to the game’s website. Doodler does not choose a word at the beginning of the game for the player to guess. Instead, it uses the player’s guesses to narrow down their word list in an effort to make the game last as long as possible. The last word may also not include a yellow letter from one of your previous guesses. You can guess as many times as you want and it is useful, the best result you can get is four guesses. Enjoy!

You can play Absurdle on any web browser.

words with friends

Words With Friends is a classic, and still a popular word game.

Zynga

What kind of word game list would you be without these classic games? Words With Friends plays like the virtual Scrabble game and is still popular more than a decade after its original release. You and your opponent, be it another person or the computer, get letters and make words on the board to get points and whoever has the most points at the end wins.

You can download Words With Friends from the App Store or Play Store, or play them in any web browser.

word forward

Word Forward is similar to Boggle but with power-ups and tools to help you. You play on a board of five by five letters and try to make words with these letters. When you make a word, the letters used disappear. Continue until the plate is cleared. If you get stuck, you can use your gadgets and tools to get rid of some letters or shuffle the board to replace the letters with new ones.

You can purchase Word Forward from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, the Nintendo Game Store for the Nintendo Switch, or Steam.

words

Wordscapes gives players letters and asks them to fill in a crossword puzzle with these letters.

google apps

Wordscapes is a mix between a puzzle and a crossword puzzle. You are given a set of letters at the bottom of the screen and there is a crossword puzzle at the top. You make the words by letters in your bank and fill in the crossword puzzle with it. Once you complete the puzzle, you will be rewarded with a beautiful picture of the landscape.

You can download Wordscapes from the App Store or Play Store.

kitty message

Kitty Letter is a word game from the creators behind The Oatmeal and Exploding Kittens. In the game, you decode letters to form words that then turn into armies of cats. What do cats do? They are attacking the player or computer you are playing against, as well as defending your home. It’s a silly tower defense game where your words create hordes of cats ready to fight for you.

You can download Kitty Letter from the App Store or Play Store.

Sabeel Tower

In SpellTower, letters rise from the bottom of the screen and you have to collect words as quickly as possible. Every word you create cancels out the letters used, and if any letter reaches the top of your screen, the game is over. It’s like Tetris in this respect. There are also 10 other game modes, including a search mode, where you try to find the longest word using certain letters.

You can download SpellTower from the App Store or Play Store. You can also get it on Apple Arcade — there’s a subscription fee for the service, but you’ll get this and other games without ads and with in-app purchases already unlocked.
