Meanwhile, another 52,956 people received a jab yesterday, bringing the UK’s total to 3,715,898.
Also, 15,706 people received their first dose, which means a total number of 52,297,579.
And there are 29,948 people who have taken a second hit, with 48,314,633 double strikes now.
This comes as the breeding number R in England has fallen to between 0.7 and 0.9.
The latest figures from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) suggest that every 10 people infected with the coronavirus will, on average, pass the disease on to between seven and nine other people.
Last week, the range was 0.8 to 1.1.
The United States Health Services Authority (UKHSA) said the number of cases each day was likely to shrink.
The daily growth of infection was estimated to be -6% to -2%, compared to -6% to +1% in the previous week.
Meanwhile, the latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows infection and hospitalization rates fell across England in the week ending January 23.
The infection rate has dropped to 4.82%, while the admission rate for COVID patients has fallen to 16.01 per 100,000 people.
However, the number of deaths from the coronavirus rose to 1,308 in the week ending January 14.

When infections were at their highest in the second wave (2.08%, week ending January 9, 2021), the hospitalization rate was twice as high (36.68 per 100,000 people, week ending January 10, 2021).
And the number of deaths from COVID was four times higher (5,597, the week ending January 8, 2021), according to the Office for National Statistics.

Also, a new analysis by the Office for National Statistics found that an average of more than 350,000 new Covid cases per day in the UK were likely to occur in early January.
That’s more than double the official number reported on the government dashboard over the same period.
The number is less than the nearly 500,000 new cases per day estimated for the end of December – although that was nearly three times the dashboard total.
