Exact places Storm Malik to thrash Scotland today amid three weather warnings

Storm Malik is charging across Scotland today, bringing severe wind with the strongest gusts above 75 mph set to batter eastern Scotland.

The Met Office issued three wind warnings yesterday ahead of Storm Malik, later upgrading one to amber.

The storm is set to travel disruptions, flooding and power cuts, multiple agencies alert, including Scottish Power and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

Weather warnings for Storm Malik cover all of Scotland as strong winds of 50 to 60 mph are widely expected.

More damaginggusts will reach 60 to 70mph inland whilst severe wind above 75 mph could hit catastrophic areas, said the Met Office.

The weather alerts in Scotland started from 4am today where they will last for three days through to the end of Monday.

The Met Office says: “Strong westerly winds will bring some disruption on Saturday to Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and northern England.”

The gusts will reach 50 to 60 mph and as strong as above 75 mph in eastern Scotland before easing during the afternoon.

The east of Scotland will face Storm Malik’s strongest gusts.

Winds of 50 to 60 mph are widely predicted with the most severe winds set to rise above 75mph, particularly in Moray, north Aberdeenshire and the Lothians.
