Mohamed Salah scored the equalizer and made the winner as Egypt came from behind to beat Morocco 2-1 after extra time in the African Cup of Nations quarter-finals.

Morocco advanced in the seventh minute from a penalty kick that Sofiane Boufal converted after dropping Ashraf Hakimi, but Egypt came back strongly, as it dominated the match by scoring Salah in the 53rd minute.

The Liverpool striker then turned to a provider to guide Trezeguet to the winner after 10 minutes of extra time, and Morocco was unable to score a late goal that would have sent him to the penalty shootout.

Salah could have finished winning in the final seconds, but Egypt were unable to make the most of the counter-kick with the Moroccan goalkeeper advancing at the other end of the field.

Egypt will now meet hosts Cameroon in the semi-finals on Thursday, as they continue their search for their first African Cup of Nations title since 2010.
