“Emergency services are at the scene and it is believed that one person was seriously injured.

The northbound motorway has been closed, as well as slipping off the A30 at Junction 29.

The road is expected to remain closed for some time.

The accident continues.”

According to National Highways, the northbound M5 motorway is closed between the J29 and J28. The connecting road from the A30 to the M5 J29 northbound is also closed.

Devon and Cornwall Police are conducting a full investigation. This closure is expected to be in effect for several hours.

Traffic destined for J28 is to follow the solid circle code via B3181.

Traffic towards Taunton follows the hollow square symbol – divert from the J29, via the A30 eastbound via Honiton, and continue on the A303 to the A358 near Ilminster. Then head north to rejoin the M5 at J25.

Delays are likely to occur in approaching this closure, with additional flight times expected also on diversion routes.
