A two-year-old girl was found dead in a park after being reported missing.

The little boy was found unresponsive in the back garden of a house in Red Road, Dagenham, just before 5 pm on Saturday.

Police launched an urgent search after she was reported missing about an hour ago.

Paramedics tried to save the girl, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said it was treating her death as unexplained and an autopsy would be conducted this week.

The force’s eastern command unit is leading an investigation and no arrests have been made.

Police did not say whether the back garden where the girl was found was in her family’s home.
